Review: Wellies and Westies (A novella)

Wellies and Westies (A novella)
Wellies and Westies (A novella) by Cressida McLaughlin

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

A great easy summer day read.
I sat reading this in the garden, all morning sat with the sun in the sky feet up reading. I only managed to stop to make food and a drink. A great easy read. enjoyable. fun, refreshing ...

Wellies and Westies is the first part of a serialized novel told in four parts – all set in Primrose Terrace. I am really looking forward to the other 3 parts. I think if they are anything like this one, then they are going to be a must read.

Catherine ‘Cat’ Palmer realises, too late, that bringing an adorable puppy into work at the local nursery was a bad idea, especially after the ensuing chaos gets her the sack.
Determined to turn a negative into a positive, Cat decides this is the perfect opportunity to get her dog-walking business off the ground with the help of her flatmates, Polly and Joe. After all, Primrose Terrace where she lives, is full of home-alone hounds…

I can't really say more than what the blurb says as I feel I would be going too much into the story and giving too much away, so what I will say is, if the sun is shinning, buy yourself this book and go and sit in the garden for a while so you can read it, It will leave you feeling all happy and smiling.
If it is a cold wet windy day, buy yourself this book, and go sit in a big comfy chair near the fire and forget the outside world for a while. you'll feel refreshed and able to carry on once you have read this book...

what ever the weather, TREAT YOURSELF----- you know you want too..........

Review: Someone Else's Skin

Someone Else's Skin
Someone Else's Skin by Sarah Hilary

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book kicks off brilliantly and carries on that way the whole way through.
It starts off with Marnie Rome visiting her parents house, where her parents have been killed, Wow what an opening for a book, you just know if it's kicking off with something like that, it can only get better. And Yes it does. And then Better and then some more.
I keep saying I am not giving too much away in my review, and don't believe I have given anything away as this is the opener for the book, It tells you this in the blurb.

We then Jump forward 5 years.

And DI Marnie Rome and her Partner DS Noah Jake have a case to solve, and visit a woman refuge, where what seemed like a simple straight forward speak to someone, turns out to be nothing like straight forward. We are thrown again into yet more murder, and this is when you just know you are going to struggle to put this book down.
A brilliant, gripping read. Keeps your attention all the way through.
And having only just read it, I am now so so ready for more from this author. I think she has written a fantastic book here, and I really look forward to reading more from this superb author.

I had seen quite a few great reviews on this book, and some fellow bloggers were raving about it. So I had to read it, and I'm so so glad that i did. I would like to thank the publishers for sending me a paperback copy of this book.
I have since bought the book on Kindle so my Mother could read it, as I know she will also enjoy it.

Review: Dubious Justice

Dubious Justice
Dubious Justice by M.A. Comley

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Yet ANOTHER 5 star book written by Mel

Wow. i can't believe we are at book 11. i have read the previous 10 books and enjoyed everyone of them.
It's not so long since I read book 10, and Mel seem's to be flying along writing these. So i was made up when Mel sent me an early copy of it. My Lorne fix is fed for now.

This has been one of those series that, one day I know I will start again at book one.

So book 11. I have to say is one of the best yet, and if you have enjoyed the rest of the series. You are in for a treat with this one.
I am now trying to not give too much away when writing my reviews, so Just buy the god damn book and read it. lol.....
The book could I guess be read as a stand alone, but if you are anything like me and know that this is part of a series, then You will want to start at book one.. Which can I add is currently free on Kindle. click here.

This is one of those books, especially for a Justice fan, that you will just fly through once started, as you NEED and WANT to know what is happening. So briefly so I don't give to much away, we start off with a Murder, with a couple more to follow. Lorne and Katy are on the case, as as ever they set off in super duo style. although their rolls have changed over time, these two still work well together. But soon, Katy has to dart off for a family emergency and Lorne becomes in charge of the case (just like old times)
I like Lorne better in her current position, as we get to see more of her home life and not just her all work and stress... I love how the Family has been built over time. And I'd love to see her daughter move to follow in her mothers footsteps.
Oh god i'm stopping here, or i'm going to end up blurting all the story out and spoiling it for you, and we wouldn't want that would we.

Anyway Yet ANOTHER 5 star book written by Mel. No pressure Mel, but i'm ready for the next one.. lol..

Review: Blood is Thicker Than Water

Blood is Thicker Than Water
Blood is Thicker Than Water by Paul Gitsham

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Charles Michaelson's had an accident at home. It seem's that he has gotten out of his armchair in the dark and fallen. But after the scene is checked it soon becomes a suspicious death.
Who could be responsible for killing an old man, and why? what is the motive behind it?

This is the first book I have read from this author, and although it is only a short story I found it very interesting, for the short time it took me to read it, and it kept my attention all the way through.
I really enjoyed it. and will certainly look out for more books to read from this author.

A short story can only have a short review or I feel i would end up giving to much away.

But well worth giving it a go, a great easy read for when you just not sure what to read next. A great in between books book.

Review: Don't Turn Around

Don't Turn Around
Don't Turn Around by Caroline Mitchell

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

After the big cover reveal on Twitter of this book and what turned into a mad crazy twitter party, lol. I managed to get a copy via Netgalley, I was really happy and looking forward to reading something new, from a new author.
so thanks to Caroline and Bookouture for allowing me the chance to read this book.

I think Caroline has done a great job in writing this book. It’s a book that really made me think. I’m a believer in the paranormal, and regularly have readings. But I couldn't decide if I liked the idea of it being such a big part in the crimes. Maybe not liking is the wrong description. I struggled getting my head around a lot of it. Not in a bad way, I must say.

DC Knight is, a strong character and she is battling scars of what I can only describe as a very unhappy childhood, and a serious case off OCD. I think the story of this helps us to understand her more, and her psychic abilities Which not everyone believes in. Some see her as someone who could be suffering some sort of mental breakdown.

Investigating crimes that Jennifer is convinced are linked, and linked to the past. Crimes in which her own mother, helped to solve. Is she right, or is she seeing too much into it, and trying to make connections that are not there.

One thing that must be hard for author’s now is standing out from the crowd. But I think Caroline has done it with this book. It really is well written and put together.

And it has an ending that was just, well a shock. I didn't see what was coming. i guess it is left so the life and career of Jennifer can only grow, which I think would make a very interesting book 2.
I have tried my best to do this review without giving too much away, and it's left me feeling I haven't said enough. But i don't like spoiling things for those who have not read the book yet.
So give it a go, i think you will like it.

Review: Hidden

Hidden
Hidden by Emma Kavanagh

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

My Review., 4/5

This is the 3 rd book I have read from this author. I have just read The Affair which is currently free on Amazon. A short story. My review for that can be viewed here. Click the image below to download your free copy. (free at time of post)

The story is told from multiple view points and does require your concentration.

I think to get the best of this book you need to sit and get stuck in. Not just pick it up now and then. As If you are anything like me, you may get a little confuzzled over who is who.

The story starts off with a shooting in a hospital. Then jumps back to the day’s before it, showing what leads up to the shooting.

We also have another story running alongside of A friend of Charlie’s that has been found dead.

Emily, who the police believe walked onto the motorway while drunk.

Emily is an old friend of Charlie. And Charlie doesn’t believe this is what happened.

Charlie seems to think there is some sort of link, to the hospital where the shooting took place.

As Charlie is a journalist she set’s out to figure the truth and try to find out what really happened.

I think if you are anything like me you have to try figure out the who’s and why’s, then get it so so wrong. I thought I had it figured out, but I hadn’t.

This is the 3rd book I have read from this author. And another enjoyable read.

Interesting enough to keep you guessing. And guess you will....

Very well put together.
