Review: Junkie

Junkie Junkie by Heather C. Leigh
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

3.5*

I'm finding this a real tough review to write, firstly I'm not sure what I can say about the story line without giving anything away, and secondly because I've really got mixed thoughts on this.
It is a very easy read, very easy to follow, and I read it in more or less a day. I enjoyed the story line, and liked the direction the book went, but in parts I felt it seemed a little repetitive.
It is a steamy read, and certainly not for the faint hearted. I enjoyed it but it didn't leave me needing more. I will at some stage read the next book, but more out of curiosity than anything else.
We have the drugs 'Boss and the 'Junkie who meet up in circumstances that shouldn't have happened.
'Boss man see's something in the Junkie that clearly no one else see's. And the story takes off from there.
There is quite a bit of sex in this book, and I can't help feeling that a lot of it wasn't needed, it was as though it was there to beef up the wordage, But if you like that in a book then this will be a good read for you.
It is an interesting read, it's not something I would normally read but still an interesting read.

Review: Cold Case

Cold Case Cold Case by M.A. Comley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

5/5

I have to start with the fact that it really does amaze me at the speed in which Mel can get books out, without any of them feeling rushed or falling below the quality we have come to know and love.
I am a HUGE M A Comley fan. I have read almost all her books over a number of years, and each time a new one is due out, I still get excited about reading it.

Here we are again, another outing with DI Sally Parker. I feel like i'm still getting to know Sally, but after reading this book I have added Sally now to my list of fictional characters that I really do like. In this book Sally has really grown on me, and I really can't wait to read more about her and see just what happens with her in future books.
As the title suggests, Sally and her team are given a Cold Case to review. A case that is ten years old, so where on earth do you start. Well it seems, you start right back at the beginning.
Ten years ago the wife of a police officer was murdered. The case soon takes on a big turn around when it is discovered that the two suspects in the original case maybe had nothing to do with it.
Have mistakes been made, is it bad policing or is just that with new DNA evidence coming to light that it puts things into a different light.
I can safely say that throughout the book I had no idea of who the killer could have been, and It certainly took me by surprise when I found out who it was. I think this was brilliantly done, I loved that I had no idea at all.
It took me a little while to get the chance to pick this up and read it, and once I did I read it in no time, there was no chance of me putting it down once started. As with all Mel's books. I got lost in the pages and devoured it.
I have no hesitations in giving this book the 5 stars it so deserves, and I really can't wait for another outing with Sally Parker.

Review: J.K. Rowling's Wizarding World: Magical Film Projections: Creatures

J.K. Rowling's Wizarding World: Magical Film Projections: Creatures J.K. Rowling's Wizarding World: Magical Film Projections: Creatures by Insight Editions
My rating: 0 of 5 stars

Firstly we would like to say a great big thank you to Walker books for sending us a copy of this book. As usual Ellie couldn't wait to open the package to see what was inside, and as a huge Harry Potter fan, she really was over the moon when she opened it.

Ellie loved it and couldn't wait to try it, so we had to close the black out blinds and she was off, we found using the Torch on my mobile phone the best, she was thrilled with the outcome, she spend a couple of nights finding the darkest spots in the house to use this. She really did love it. But then she is pretty bonkers on HP.
She then had to show any visitors we had what it did, but after that it got put on the book shelf, so a few days fun then put away.
I've no doubt it will come out again in the future, but for now its asleep in bookshelf world.

For me it was more oh that's good, and that's it. It's well made, a hardback book. and as well as the projections in the book, there is a blank on for you to draw your own on.
I'd say it's great for any young HP fan, and something they can go back to time and time again.
It is fun, and little minds can make up some great stories from the images, or read the script under each image.
Personally I think it's a little pricey for what it is, but as I said great for little Potter fans.
Using illustrated cut-out screens, this enchanting book allows fans to project their favourite scenes from the Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them films at home with a torch.

Read along and play the part of Dobby, stroke Buckbeak the Hippogriff's feathers or chase after an escaped Niffler with this one-of-a-kind tour through the extraordinary moments from the films of J.K. Rowling's Wizarding World.

Review: The Missing Ones

The Missing Ones The Missing Ones by Patricia Gibney
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

4.5*

What a great start to what can only be a very promising series. I love finding new authors, and Patricia Gibney is certainly going to be an author to look out for. I was amazed when I realised this was Patricia's Debut novel. You would never believe that when reading it.

We are introduced to Detective Lottie Parker, and I have to say right away I liked her. A single mother of 3 teenagers and working a very stressful job, what isn't to like. Add to that the fact she also gets things wrong then she's going to be a brilliant character to follow.
Alongside her is Boyd and their working partnership as well as their personal one needs working at, lol. I loved the banter between them, and the way they interacted with each other.
Some great characters, that are going to be interesting as we go further into the series and each character develops.
It's a tough story to cover but covered very well.
A very interesting read, something to get your teeth into. Well worth giving it a go, I'm lucky enough to have the next one to start right away, and I'm looking forward to it.

Review: Before I Go

Before I Go Before I Go by Colleen Oakley
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

My thoughts.
4/5

A very interesting read. I just fancied something a little different to my normal read, and this was certainly that.
I thoroughly enjoyed it, although it was an emotional journey, parts of it had me wanting to cry and other parts had me wanting to laugh.
When Daisy is given the dreadful news that her cancer has returned, but this time it's non treatable. her life goes into turmoil. She doesn't feel ill, so how can they be telling her something like this.
Worried about what might happen to her wonderful but helpless husband if she is not around to help him and care for him sends her into a mission of finding him someone to look after him. She want's to find him a new wife.
But it's taking over what is left of her short life, and should she be doing this or should she be looking after herself and making what time she has left less stressful and happy.
This was really and emotional journey. Heart breaking but fun read. It's one of those books that you just can't help thinking, What would I do in this situation?
