Review: Twisted Justice: A combined investigation. DI Lorne Warner and DI Sally Parker

Twisted Justice: A combined investigation. DI Lorne Warner and DI Sally Parker Twisted Justice: A combined investigation. DI Lorne Warner and DI Sally Parker by M.A. Comley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Wow. I cannot believe we are at book 13 in this series. This has become one of my must read the next book series. I have loved and enjoyed each and everyone of these books. It's now got to be like visiting an old friend, I look forward and enjoy Lorne's company when she comes to visit me via the latest book.
I have enjoyed so much learning about and watching Lorne and her family grow and change. I believe each and every book just gets better and better each time.
I am again feeling honoured that the wonderful author of this book, allowed me an early release copy. So I got to read it before it becomes on sale, But don't worry, it's out tomorrow (31.12.15) so you don't have to wait for it, as I hung on to my review until it was time for publication.

Well this time it's Murder at sea. And Lorne is thrown into the case and working it with old friend Di Sally Parker, (those familiar with Mel's books will know that Di Sally Parker is the main character in one of Mel's other series) they are dealing with some real nasty characters this time. And I mean REAL NASTY.
Working as a team these two are going to be a force to reckon with. And I think it would be brilliant if they could work other cases together.

The victim is found on his boat, where the culprit has tried their best to cover it up and make it look like an accident rather than murder. What Lorne needs to find out is who has done it any why.
I loved how the team worked together and how they found clues and managed to piece each bit together.

This is another very well written and put together book. As I said each one just get's better and better. And once again Mel has delivered just what her fan's want. A bloody good read.

Review: Death Trap

Death Trap Death Trap by Dreda Say Mitchell
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Well what can I say... I was Buzz in when I received a copy of this book through the post.
And couldn't wait to start it. Not far into the book I realized how much i was going to enjoy it and I ordered the Kindle copy for my Mum to read.

Di Rio Wray is back. I really do like her, I like her attitude towards people, and she doesn't seem to care if people know that she doesn't like them. Sometimes though things take a different turn, and you might find that someone you don't like turns out to be someone not so bad after all. Sometimes you just need to understand the truth.

I love the writing style of Dreda, she has a knack of getting you really involved in her books. At some stage I really am going to have to go back and re read Hit Girls, Geezer girls and Gangster Girls.
I actually thought I had read all her books, but while writing this review have just seen that I never read Killer Tune. But I am about to put that right as I have just purchased it for my kindle at a super price of £1.49 (price at time of this review)
Anyway i'm going off somewhere again aint i... back to what I come here for. to tell you a bit about Death trap.
This book kicks off brutally. Right away with Murder. Nikki Bell witnesses Murder. She is the only person that apparently has ever survived this gang that seems to be targeting wealthy families.
It's left to Rio to decide how to crack this, who she can trust, who she needs helping her and most of all keeping her witness safe.
Callum Burns is also back, and this time we get to find out a whole lot more of his past and his connection with Rio. I really liked these two character. Rio and Callum, there is just something about them both that made me want to know more and more about them.
Rio is taken on a Journey and a half with this case. I enjoyed the way this book went, and believe we could be seeing a lot more from Rio in the near future, I certainly hope so anyway.

Review: Dark Murder

Dark Murder Dark Murder by Helen H. Durrant
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

3.5/5
This is the 4th book I have read from Helen H Durrant recently. I recently read the 3 books in the Detectives Bayliss and Calladine series and really enjoyed them.
This one however seemed a little different from those, this one is the first book to feature Detective Stephen Greco. as the lead detective, he has recently started his new job at Oldston CID, after moving here to be near his divorced wife, and his daughter.
it took me a while but I did start to like DI Greco. He seemed a normal kind of guy.
His case is not a nice one, but I don't suppose any murder case is nice. And with a team that isn't quite performing as it should it's not going to be easy, working a case, and trying to build a good team.
This book kept me going, the story line was interesting, it just felt a little short, like something was missing. I don't know what though. It was enjoyable, just not as much as I enjoyed the Bayliss books.

I will be looking out for more from this author as I think she is going to create two fab series as they grow.
