Detective Ruby Preston Crime Thriller Series
Book 1
Where do you start, when you have read a book like this, when writing a review becomes so much more difficult.
This is again one of those times when I really wish that I knew how to put my feelings and thoughts, into the correct words. Words that make it sound so much better than, things like, Read it. Buy it. You'll love it. Because basically that is pretty much all I want to say. It's when I wish I could come up with something that sounds intellectual, like I know what I'm talking about.
Well I'm not intellectual, but I do know what I'm talking about. I'm talking about a book, a book that is the first book in what can only be a freaking awesome series, if this first one is anything to go by.
It still amazes me that there are so so many crime, authors out there. Yet somehow this story is original, intriguing yet different all at the same time. I'm guessing Caroline's career in the police has greatly helped her when writing such a true to life story.
I have to say it was pretty creepy in parts. It will certainly have you holding your breath on more than one occasion.
We have women being killed, killed by someone they believe to be a daughter they gave up years ago, that in itself is creepy, but the way this book has been written and so brilliantly put together, well it just makes the hairs on your neck stand up.
Working the case is Ruby and her team. It's a tough case and has a very personal feel about it, to Ruby.
I really liked Ruby as a character, she was flawed, not perfect but doesn't really care. She has one hell of a screwed up personal life. And one that if she is not careful could screw up her work life to.
But I am so looking forward to see how this goes over future books.
I'm looking forward to seeing just where this series will go, and how the hell Caroline is going to manage to improve on this one. (NO pressure there Caroline).
I really can't wait for more from this series.
