Bad Bridesmaid by Portia Macintosh
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Bad Bridesmaid
Absolutely hilarious.
This is the first book I have read from this author. And it’s only recently I have started to read a few more chic lit books than I normally would. And so far I have been very lucky as each one I have read I have really enjoyed.
This book just seemed FUN. I laughed out loud most of the way through it.
Formally Mia Harrison now Mia Valentina is hot shot movie writer in LA living in her Lad Pad and doing pretty much as she pleases. She returns to the UK to be the chief bridesmaid at her sister's wedding. I think getting on the plane heading home was Mia’s biggest mistake I think she just brought with her a bad luck cloud, because if it could go wrong it would go wrong, and most the time it went wrong is spectacular style. She is not very well liked by her family and certainly seems like the black sheep of the family. Many times through the book I just kept thinking. Mia get back on that plane and go home before anything else can go wrong. Just as you think one incident is over she clangs right into the next one.
Belle is Mia’s sister, and I had mixed feeling for her. Sometimes I wanted to slap her, and others I wanted to feel sorry for her. Belle used to Bully Mia, and to say they are not really close sisters may be a bit of an understatement. There was times when I thought that Belle was just a spoilt brat. But as the story went on I grew to like her.
There is the normal chic lit hunks a plenty in this book, and Mia seems to like the try before you buy style. She wants’ casual sex, not serious relationships. She wants fun not commitment. But most of all I think she just wants to be liked, by her family or at least accepted.
A really good light hearted fun read. I will definitely look into reading more books from this author, I really did enjoy it. If you are feeling a little down or fed up, then read this, it really does have the feel good factor and anyone feels better after a good laugh, and this book has plenty of laughs.
