Review: Never Look Back

Never Look Back
Never Look Back by Clare Donoghue

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

5/5

I was at that point of what the hell should I read next, so went reading some of my fellow bloggers reviews to give me some idea's. I wanted to read this book after reading Shaun's review on book 2 - No Place to Die

So thanks to Shaun, i went and purchased this. but as my mother in-law had just given me a £20 Amazon voucher, I wasn't breaking my "not to buy any books until the end of March" rule.

So I finished my current read and curled up in bed with a big bar of chocolate and my kindle.
I'm pretty glad I read this, as it now means I can read book 2 as soon as I want. I really like it when I find a new author whose books I have not read, and there is more that one to get stuck into.

This book kicks off the start of what i'm guessing is going to be a great series, I love a good police procedural. Getting to know new characters and deciding which ones you like and which you don't.
So this new series to feature DI Mike Lockyer and DS Jane Bennett, of the Murder squad starts off brilliantly. They are faced with solving the killings of 3 women. When Mike see's a resemblance in the 3rd victim to a member of his own family, it really shakes him. This is where we learn about Mike and see his sensitive side too. He has many things going on in his life outside of work, so dealing with both aspects can be tricky.

Along side this we have Sarah, who is being stalked. But no one seems to be taking her seriously. Is she ever going to get any help or even anyone to believe what is happening to her. I really enjoyed both parts to this story. And how they come together.

I think the characters have been built up and introduced to us brilliantly. And I think there is really room for them to grow into well known likable characters.

Although there was quite a bit going on in this book, I found it a really easy and Bloody enjoyable read.
